ETHICS AND SUSTAINABILITY
Ethics and sustainability can be a tricky subject when it comes to jewellery. Mining and production can have significant negative environmental and ethical implications. Like many small businesses, we're trying our best to make the world a better place through what we create, sell and share...
Working Conditions
All work, including manufacture, marketing and processing, is carried out by me personally in a safe working environment, using suitable PPE and with correct safety precautions being taken at all times. Materials are sourced from a UK-based supplier, where possible, which ensures safe working conditions and a fair, legal wage.
Packaging
Packaging is plastic free and recyclable (the cotton bag protecting your jewellery is reusable and is actually a food-grade reusable tea bag for you to use for a cuppa!). Packaging items are sourced from UK businesses where possible.
Materials
All silver used in jewellery by Elizabeth FJE Design is certified 100% recycled Ecosilver. Likewise, all gold items are made from wholly recycled gold, and the pearls I use are either vintage finds or reclaimed from old items of jewellery, as are many gemstones. Tracing gemstones and ensuring their origin can be tricky, and we are constantly working to find the most sustainable and ethical sources possible.
